Help us Write the Community Agenda for Public Education

  • Initiative

Oklahoma is currently 49th in the nation for public education. The Better Outcomes for Oklahoma Kids (B.O.O.K.) initiative will research and create 10-15 solution-oriented policies over the next year to re-imagine educational outcomes in Oklahoma. We will spend the next year developing the people’s plan with concrete recommendations that the Legislature, State Board of Education, local school districts, and community stakeholders can incrementally adopt between 2025 - 2030.

  • Inspiration

B.O.O.K. draws inspiration from the landmark educational legislation House Bill 1017 - Education Reform Act, 1990 - developed on the basis of citizen input. Including: Teacher Pay Raise, Curricular Standards including Early Childhood, Consolidation/Annexation Act, Requiring Accreditation, Decreasing Class sizes, Standardizing Alternative Certification, Parent Education/Involvement at State and District levels, Incentive Pay Models, Special Education Assistance Fund, and more... All assisting to make Oklahoma 17th in the nation for public education at the time.

  • Involvement

Advance Oklahoma Kids (AOK) proposes to spend the next year gaining input from a wide range of education stakeholders and citizens to develop the B.O.O.K. community agenda. Our education justice organizer has actively engaged teachers and students up to district superintendents and nationwide educational institutions.
